Privacy policy
This site sets no cookies, has no forms or accounts, and keeps no profile of its visitors.
Who is responsible
The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the publisher of howpcrules.com, reachable at [email protected]. Every request about your data goes to this address.
Hosting
The site is static: every page is a finished file, and nothing you do on it is stored by the site. It is served from a server run by DigitalOcean (DigitalOcean, LLC, USA) that stands in Frankfurt, Germany. To deliver a page, the server necessarily processes your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser's technical details. Its log is overwritten automatically, usually within two days.
The legal basis is the publisher's legitimate interest in delivering the site securely (GDPR art. 6 (1) (f)). DigitalOcean acts on the publisher's behalf under a data processing agreement. It is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and its agreement adds the EU standard contractual clauses for transfers to the USA.
Visitor statistics
Visits are counted with Umami Cloud (Umami Software, Inc., USA) to learn which posts are read. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page, the referring site, the browser, operating system, device type and country. Your IP address is used only briefly, to derive the country and an anonymous daily visitor count, and is not kept with the statistics. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no visit is counted. The legal basis is the publisher's legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (GDPR art. 6 (1) (f)). Umami processes the data on the publisher's behalf under a data processing agreement that includes the EU standard contractual clauses.
Fonts and links
The typefaces are served from this site, so no font service learns of your visit. Links to other sites are plain links: nothing is sent to them unless you follow one.
If you write to the address above, your address and message are used only to answer you, and deleted when the matter is closed, unless the law requires them to be kept. The mailbox is hosted by Zoho in its EU data centre. The legal basis is the publisher's legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR art. 6 (1) (f)).
Your rights
You may ask what data is held about you and have it corrected, deleted or its use restricted (GDPR art. 15 to 18), receive it in a portable form (art. 20), and object at any time to processing based on legitimate interest (art. 21). Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to a data protection authority, in particular the one where you live or work.
